This discussion will focus on the tension between the rule of law in theory (an ideal) vs. the rule of law in practice (circumstantial), using the events leading up to, throughout, and after the Civil War as examples of the presence and absence of the rule of law in American history.

There is no charge to attend this symposium. The program will be recorded and made available to civic groups, educators, and other audiences.
